  They laughed. Zach rolled over to face her and kissed her.

  “I just want you to know that I’m not leaving your side. I’m going with you to the safe house.”

  “I don’t want you getting hurt,” she whispered.

  Zach maintained eye contact. “I’m not leaving your side.”

  Jenna nodded. “Okay.”

  Zach smiled. “Also because I know you’ll save my ass during whatever happens.”

  Jenna laughed. Zach tucked a hair behind her ear.

  “Jenna, I can’t lose you again,” he admitted. “Nothing’s the same without you.”

  “Zach, I…” She paused and then sighed. “Zach, I was head over heels in love with you when we worked together. And… I still am.”

  Zach looked at her, mesmerized by the tenderness in her eyes. He stroked her cheek.

  “Me too.”

  They leaned into one another and kissed again. Jenna’s tongue entered his mouth, and he knew she was ready for more. He was going to like this new kind of team they were on together.
